THE ROLE OF AI-ASSISTED VISUALIZATION TOOLS IN ENGINEERING GRAPHICS EDUCATION

Engineering graphics is fundamental in engineering education, enabling precise visual communication in design and manufacturing. Many students find it difficult to interpret 2D technical drawings and convert them into accurate 3D representations—such as orthographic projections, sectional views, and hidden features—due to varying spatial visualization skills. While traditional teaching methods are essential for learning drawing conventions and geometric reasoning, they often rely on static materials and offer limited feedback. Recent advances in artificial intelligence provide interactive tools that transform 2D drawings into 3D models with real-time guidance. This paper explores AI-assisted visualization as a complementary approach, showing it can improve understanding, reduce errors, and boost student confidence without replacing traditional learning.
